Ammunition Control Prop 63 California

The State of California is trying to pass Prop 63 to reduce gun violence.
The Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is pushing to pass Prop 63 through the November 8 Ballot. This Proposition includes background checks on ammunition to ensure felons, criminals, and terrorist cannot purchase ammo. This sounds great, but is Prop 63 a good law to have?
One part of the proposition suggests that it forces citizens to report that their gun was stolen. Most people will agree with this statement, but citizens and gun shops would follow the law and would report it without prop 63 being in place. Governor Jerry Brown recently vetoed Bill SB 894. This law was design to force citizens to report their firearms stolen within 5 days. The Governor disagreed with this bill with his quote according to abc10.com.
Veto message:
“I vetoed similar measures in 2012 and 2013 because I did not believe that a measure of this type would help identify gun traffickers or enable law enforcement to disarm people prohibited from having guns.
I continue to believe that responsible people report the loss or theft of a firearm and irresponsible people do not; it is not likely that this bill would change that. ”
It shows that the Governor of California is already against one portion of this law. According to his voting history, he believes that reporting firearms do nothing to reduce crime in any way. What else does Prop 63 include?
Well, of course, background checks on ammunition. When someone purchases ammo, an individual must go through a Background check to buy ammunition. You have to have a license to buy ammo which there will be a fee to purchase your license. There will be a record on how much ammunition you have purchase.
The attorney general wants to make it harder to get ammunition. Violating our 2nd amendment right, by making us take our rights away by over regulating us. The funny thing about Kamala Harris the attorney general, she won’t enforce illegal immigration to reduce gun violence in California, but will slowly take away your Second Amendment right away.
The attorney general also wants to prohibit large capacity magazines. Only having 10 round clips and having a bullet bottom to release the clip from all Assault rifles. We are going to be limited on how much ammunition we can purchase, when buying an assault rifle in California you have to have a bullet button, and only restricted to 10 round magazines. This is passing more laws that would make no difference in reducing Gun Violence. People from other states, across the border, or individuals who buy ammo, clips, and guns, will always find a way around the law.
If the voters approve this, it would create a new black market for criminals in California. Prop 63 will create a black market for ammunition and magazines that carry more than 10 rounds. These politicians do not understand if they pass this proposition. Having a black market will create crime and start hurting innocent people. More laws do not always equal more safety. Too many laws can affect innocent people. This proposition would also slowly destroy the economy in California by removing the firearm industry.
The State of California is pushing gun companies out, which is another economic blow to the economy of California. Politicians are slowly driving away a billion dollar industry from California. The gun companies bring millions or billions of dollars to California. By passing Prop 63, it will reduce the amount of people going to gun stores in California. When people stop going, the gun shop will have to close down, and people will lose jobs. We do not want more unemployment.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) intends to SELL a 4-year permit for $50. Ammunition dealers would have to check with the DOJ to see if you can purchase the ammunition. The DOJ can charge up to a $1 for every transaction. A $1 does not seem that much, but if you are buying ammo every week, that’s $52 every year. That could be 2 or 3 boxes of ammo. We will feel like we are living in a bubble. They want to charge us more and more to get more money for themselves.
Every time there are shootings the Democrats, attorney general, and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom wants more and more gun control. The list can go on about how many guns and how many bullets kill innocent people every year. Some of the government says that keeping guns or ammunition out of the hands of terrorist or anyone that is committing an act of terror is going to solve the problem of gun violence. Terrorist or someone that does an act of terror does not follow the rules or laws. Gun control or ammunition control will not solve this issue. There have been many cases of an act of terror not using guns or bullets.
In April 2013 the Boston bombing happened, the explosion killed 3 people and injured 264. In Roanoke, Virginia, August 20th, 2016 a stabbing occurred, 3 people wounded by a knife. On October 23, 2016 a New York police officer was attacked by a man with an axe. The man with the ax was killed by police, but he managed to injure 3 people with his axe. In Merced, California, November 2015, a student stabbed 4 people, which one of them died from their injuries. On September 17, 2016, in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, another stabbing happened in a mall, killed a 15-year girl and injured 10. On September 17, 2016, a bombing in Manhattan went off and wounded 29 people. Ammunition is the least of our worries, when we see that people will always find a way to kill people.
Citizens should have the right to purchase as much ammo as they want without having to go through all the background checks and paying more fees. They want us to wait on cops to help us, but it takes about 7 minutes for an officer to get to the situation. If you have armed citizens with specialized training and had people more educated about how a gun works, the citizens that are trained can save themselves from the killer. Then there wouldn’t be as many innocent killings with a gun.
In the end, Prop 63 does not reduce crime but increases it. If the Democrat party were serious in reducing gun violence, then they would support the legalization of the War on Drugs, which is the key policy that is killing so many Americans with guns. Instead, they violate the Constitution instead of removing this policy, which is a policy, not your Bill of Rights. I hope that you vote no on Prop 63 for the reasons that have been stated in this article
