It was believed that the terrorist on flight 93 was trying to target the White House or the Capital building according to wikipedia.org.

The terrorist plan to hit key targets like economic and defense was successful. The actual cost is not known because many studies came out with different figures and estimates. One statistic put the cost of, the World Trade Center at 10 billion dollars in property damage. After, the cleanup, rebuilding, and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan the cost amounted to 3 trillion dollars according to wikipedia.org. Another statistic, from nytimes.com, put the total cost at 3.3 trillion dollars. They valued it at this number because of the interruption in business, war, rebuilding, and cleanup. The reduction in travel, airline travel, business, and cancellation of events contributed to this figure.

Osama bin Laden head leader of Al-Qaeda planned had succeeded in destroying the economy and bleeding America out of funds. The 9/11/2001 terrorist attack was one of the most successful terrorist attacks on American soil. Leaving American’s angry and mad at the tragic events that unfolded that day.

President Bush made sure that Osama Bin Laden and his organization would be found. He invaded Afghanistan on October 7; 2001.Operation Enduring Freedom was meant to fight the Taliban and Al-Qaeda out of Afghanistan. The mission, in the beginning, was successful in destroying training camps and capturing Al-Qaeda officials. Later, the war grew into a major conflict with the invasion of Iraq.

President Bush and Congress authorize the war in Iraq with one poll showing 72 percent of the American public supporting the war according to gallup.com. The House voted 296-133 and Senate voted 77-23 for the Iraq War according to cbs.com. The American’s fell into the trap that the terrorist organization al-Qaeda had planned out. They wanted America to fight wars in the Middle East so they would become stuck fighting long term, which has made America become stuck in a quagmire. The cost of the Iraq war and Afghanistan war cost will reach to 4 to 6 trillion dollars. The Iraq war, Afghanistan war, and fighting terrorism for the last 15 years had drain America out funds and had made America lose its superpower status slowly.

In the end, America did find and kill Osama Bin Laden on May 2, 2011. He was found hiding out in Pakistan according to cnn.com. Even though America found the leader and killed him, America still fell into the trap that Osama Bin Laden wanted. America just doesn’t face threats from terrorism, but China, Russia, North Korea, and other state actors have more influence today because of the terrorist acts, which started the whole process on 9/11/2001. Osama Bin Laden dream of bringing down America slowly has come true.
