Why Gun Control

Gun Control

Is gun control a smart a way to reduce gun violence or does it increase crime? The Democrats want gun control but why? They say that gun control will solve the terrorist attacks and help stop killing people but in reality that is not true. The Democrats say 33,000 thousands of Americans die a year from gun violence, but the truth is about 10,000 to 11,000 thousand die from other people shooting at each other.

The other 20,000 thousand die from killing them. Hawkins states that the new platform says, “We will expand background checks and close dangerous loopholes in our current laws, hold irresponsible dealers and manufacturers accountable, keep weapons of war—such as assault weapons—off our streets, and ensure guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists, domestic abusers, other violent criminals, and those with severe mental health issues”.

If someone wanted to own a firearm, they would easily be able to obtain one, if a terrorist wants a gun they are able to own it, and even a criminal can. If there were no guns, they could use bombs, as in the Boston bombing; they could use a truck like in France, killing 86 people and injuring 434 people, but you cannot do such with a gun. There is always an issue with something, but guns can be easily solved; mental health problems can resolve by having no GMOS in food, plastic bleeding into the water from water bottles, pesticides into fruits and vegetables. Eating cloned meats can also affect the way someone acts.

In 2008, modified foods were in stores, and by now there has to be a lot more people that do not even know about the genetic engineered food. Also, domestic violence can occur because of the lack of education or the lack of attention when someone is a child. Instead of taking the 2nd amendment away or regulating it, we should work on the other essentials that cause issues, such as mental illness or domestic violence.
Gun control all started back in slavery time. A militia, which was called slave patrol, in the southern states made any white employees that were on the plantations to check the slave’s homes for any guns or ammunition. If found, any weapon a slave had would get 20 lashes.

After the slaves were freed in 1865 the French black code enforced settlers to stop any blacks to make sure they didn’t have any weapon, even a cane that is used for walking in Louisiana; if any black had a blunt instrument, it was necessary for a colonist to beat any blacks. The southern states made this law clear to the United States.

The states of the South consistently passed regulations to ban free slaves or blacks from having a firearm. All because the whites were so terrified that the blacks or free slaves were going to retaliate. Therefore, in history gun control puts more Africans Americans in jail instead of whites Americans and we don’t want that, it should be equal. Almost all Americans have a gun in their household.

The average gun in a house hold is 8.1 since 2013. In 1994 the average was 4.2, it has doubled since then, and guns are always going to be around. On September 17, 1787, the Constitution was signed, it had the second amendment and the second amendment said: “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”.

A big issue in California is gun control, everyone I spoke to that is an American citizen has a problem with the new proposition, Proposition 63. This proposition contains a heavier background check on the weapon used, a more substantial background check on the person who buys a gun. A background check on ammunition, a fee to purchase the ammunition, and permit for four years and to regulate how many boxes of ammo you can have. California, New Jersey, Massachusetts are the top 3 states with heavy gun controls laws.

Finland is one country that has a ratio of 46 to 100 to have a gun. The murder rate is 20 percent and that is because Finland works on their gun safety laws. Norway has a ratio of 32 out of 100 gun ownership; the death rate is 8.1 percent used by a firearm. Russia and Belarus have banned guns; the murder rate for Russia in 2002 was 20.54 percent. In Belarus it was 10.40 percent in the late 1990s. Poland allowed guns, and the death rate was 1.98 percent. Two places having the highest murder rate and a single location with a low death rate is showing that having guns banned shows more violence.

In Nice, France a terrorist ran over people in a truck killing 84 people and hurting 202 people. If an armed civilian had a carry-on and knew how to use it, he/she could have killed the person or avoided all those people and hopefully not killed or injured any of those people.

In conclusion, if everyone had a gun there would be less crime because if every knew you had a gun; you wouldn’t want to rob, steal or commit anything as in a crime. It is a good way to tax the weapons and ammunition and put the money back into the states and community. By teaching kids at a young age, guns are not a toy and giving anyone that is a citizen of the United States safety course lessons. If people had guns on the street, it would help the police stop violent crime.
